omg, keep dog blogging! i guffawed at a cafe. i don't know how to spell that - but i did catch myself smiling at the screen the whole time i read it. good stuff! if you weren't on a tiny island i would say keep the bitching about other people thing in there - cuz that is what people relate to, but you're on a tiny island and even if you changed everyone's name "they're gonna know...."

i changed hostels last night and stayed at 'trek global' and apparently a month ago when i booked it i was smart enough to know i would need a private room, so yay. until i got there, opened the door and it was a double on the bottom, single on the top bunk but the bottom bunk had been slept in and there was all this trash in the room. a sane person would have just gone down the ONE flight and told the desk that the room hadn't been cleaned, but apparently that's not me. instead, i just took the sheets off the bottom bunk and threw them in the corner, ya know, over by the trash, and then took the one unused top bunk sheet and threw it over the bed, even though it was a flat sheet....so i slept in my clothes with no top sheet....kinda skeeved out all night because of the trash, but whatevs. you know what i've realized on this trip? i would make an EXCELLENT homeless person. not sure what that says about me but, again, whatevs. 

so last night i wanted to do laundry at the hostel but the stupid machine only took coins so i couldn't....because i don't have any kiwi cash (not what they call it - but they should). so i'm in dirty clothes again. then i was going to go have dinner at this place around the corner that i went to the other night - i was walking by and i heard this guy calling out trivia questions so i walked in and got in line to answer the question "most hashtags animals of 2022" but when it was my turn the guy gave me a look and i was like, "can i play?" and he motioned to the bartender so i went over and she was like, "they're in the middle of a game!" hahhahah - they were all grouped up in the middle of a trivia game and in walks annie....hahhahah. so i got a beer and listened for a while. 

anyhoo...i was going to go back there, but there was a table that was so loud i knew i would just be annoyed and did i really need to have a pint?

so i went to mcdonalds and got a happy meal and a banana shake instead. it came with a little book for kids that i read - it was an attempt to answer the question, 'why is the sky blue?' and i think they did a fair job of it, without going into detail about the electromagnetic spectrum.

 Yes, I have been writing every day. It's just that some days I write and write and clever things come out of my brain, and some days I stare at a blank screen for an hour and I feel like a total failure. What I'm succeeding at is making myself stare at the blank screen for an hour instead of escaping into TikTok.  first of all what's with all the flatulence on a plane? i feel so bad for the guy sitting next to me - who may or may not have been ben affleck. something about air pressure makes all the gas in your body escape - so i was letting it rip for about 15 hours straight - all the while thinking no one could hear because we were in the back of the plane - the lovely last row- and i certainly couldn't hear anything. but then when we were almost arriving in Melbourne i realized to my absolute horror that i had been wearing headphones - better yet those foam things that you curl up and shove in ur ear and then they expand . going through check in just now leaving Melbourne i had to go through security and i got there and realized i had two sips of water and started to guzzle and the very kind woman behind the counter was like, "oh, no dear you don't have to drink it, just put it in the bin. no need to take anything out of your bags, either. leave your shoes on. lovely . then i...

MV back to LA

 Hi Kate  So today I had an interview with Elevate K-12 for a Science Content Writer. It went great. Then I got an email from the Kitten Rescue place I signed up to volunteer at, asking if I could transport kittens from the west side of the Valley to downtown LA. I said yes. Of course. Now I'm waiting to see when they need me to pick up the kittens.  It was fun interviewing in an ironed blue linen shirt, but without pants on. The girl interviewing me was in Scotland but from New Hampshire. She was nice.
